I'm Married to a Nuclear Med Tech!!

Please ignore the butt sniffing dogs in the back.

My fantastic, awesome, brilliant husband had his boards to become certified in Nuclear Med Tech.  He graduated from school this past Friday.  I wasn't allowed to tell him he was going to do great and pass.  The conversation went a little something like this:

Nervous Husband:  "Babe, these boards have got me nervous as hell."

Me:  "That's normal, but I have faith in you.  You're going to do awesome, you're going to pass, and no matter what I'm going to be proud of you."

Nervous Husband:  "Don't say that!"

Me:  "......   Don't say I have faith in you and that you're going to pass?"

Nervous Husband:  "Exactly, because if you keep saying that and I fail, I'm going to feel like shit."

Me (Long pause, awkward look): "Did you miss the part of no matter what I'm going to be proud of you?"

Nervous Husband: "Everyone is saying they know I'm going to pass.  If I fail, I'm going to let everyone down.  It's a lot of pressure!"

Hence, for the last few days, I did not tell him he was going to pass his boards.  I didn't bring it up or touch the subject.  I was quietly supportive, letting him study, random hugging and snuggling, pinching of the butt, etc.  just to make him smile.  He took his boards today.  Last night, he was freaking out, studying like crazy and in full blown panic mode.  I listened to him vent, then awkwardly laughed.

Me:  "I don't know what to say babe.  I'm not allowed to support you because it's too much pressure."

Panic Stricken Husband (Laughs himself):  "Yeah, I know, I just want it be over."

Me (Kisses him): "It will be soon enough.  Just remember to breathe."

Well soon enough is now over.  The hubby had his boards early this morning, and wouldn't you know it.

HE PASSED!!!!

Congratulations, lots of praise, and then I got to say:

Me:  "I told you so, I told you so!"

Ecstatically Happy Husband: "...... Shut up!"

Me:  *insert evil cackle here*

I am so proud of my husband!  He is officially certified as a Nuclear Med Tech.  He gets all the paperwork in about three weeks.  Well, he's certified for the state.  Tomorrow he has to take his National Boards, but like I told him before, I have faith.  He has spent two years working his off and it's finally paying off.  That's right, I'm married to a sexy, faithful, honorable, though sometimes highly annoying, Nuclear Med Tech.

That's right, you know you're jealous!

♫Celebrate good times come on!

Guess who got a new job?  That’s right; this awesome nerdy girl got a new job at a fabulous place.  The people are great, the job is great, and I’m seriously using the word ‘great’ too much.  Everyone has seen a difference in my attitude since I started working at said awesome place.  (Come on you should know by now that I don’t put my jobs actual name in my blog!)  It’s much closer to home, which means I save mucho money on gas, and I do a variety of things including part of their marketing that involves social media (their blog, FB, Twitter, etc).  It’s actually a lot of fun, great experience, and the people are very patient when it comes to me learning new things about the company.   Getting out at 5pm and being home before 5:30 means I have a lot more time in the afternoon to do the things I love, like read, catch up on nerdy news, and most importantly, spend time with the most awesome husband in the world.
I’ve also finished two out of my four classes for the semester.  I’m sad the fiction writing class is over.  That was so much fun, and my professor was just excellent.  I think sometimes the people who hate creative writing class take it as the be all end all based on what the professor teachers instead of keeping an open mind, seeing things from a different view point, and being able to add things to their writing.  Creative writing classes and workshops are excellent in my opinion.  You can’t break the rules until you know the rules.

I’m getting off track though.  I’ve finished two of four of my classes.  I’m losing my 4.0, but I’d rather be challenged and learn than go through school in a breeze.  Maybe I’m just weird.  That’s okay.  It’s fun.
With this new job I’ll be able to catch up on my book reviews not only for my own site, but for I Read a Book Once.  The end of the semester just coincided with my old job driving me up the wall with stress.  It’s so nice to smile again.  It’s not worth being at a job you hate. Find something you love – or at the very least don’t detest with every fiber of your being.

That being said, tomorrow is Friday.  Be safe, enjoy your weekend.

PARTY ON NERDS!

Thirty and Fabulous!

Delayed post as my birthday was on Valentines Day.

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone out there!  Personally, I hate the holiday.  Even at work everything was pink, heart shaped, and sickeningly sweet.  It’s never been my favorite holiday, but then again I may be bias since I share my birthday with V-Day. That’s right, today is my birthday.  I have hit the big THIRTY!  Hazzuh!  It’s been a crazy, adventure filled first thirty years, and I can’t wait to see what this next decade brings me.  Hopefully a degree, a few babies running around the house to drive me mad, and happy memories to add to the ones I already have.  I actually called my twenties my terrible twenties because of all the tragedy.   I’m hoping that my thirties are terrific.

Last weekend my husband set it up for us to go down to the Hard Rock in Hollywood.  There were friends and family – even my parents showed up which was a surprise.  Not that they haven’t always been there, but they live four hours away and my mom told me they wouldn’t be able to make it. LIARS!  But it was a good lie, because it was a GREAT surprise.  We drank, gambled, and my husband even got us a room.  It was absolutely luxurious!  Not a bad way to start the decade at all.

ME AT 30!

So, what are my goals for this next chapter in my life? (In no particular order)
-Finish School.
-Become a better writer.
-Have a little imp or two.
-Publish a novel or two.
-Go someplace I’ve never been.

Those are the major ones anyways.  My goals for this week are to:
-Pass my Oceanography Test
-Pass my Math Test
-Review the short story for my Fiction Class
-Finish and review the book for I Read a Book Once.
-Find some time to sleep.

Yup, that sounds about right.  Work full time, go to school full time, sleep part time.  I am a very lucky woman.  I’m 30 and living fabulous.

Work Full Time, School Full Time, Sleep Part Time

The new semester starts and my blog posts go down.  Sorry about that my few and faithful readers, but school does come first. That’s not to say I’m happy about neglecting you.  I very much appreciate the people who read my blog, but the hours in the day are working against me at this point.  I’m still reading, writing, and having my brain boggled by all this information from school – most of which I’ll probably never use, but hey having a little bit of information on a little bit of everything is never a bad thing.  It can give me a starting point for research when I want to incorporate something into a story.

Four classes is a bit of a challenge.  I may go back to three next semester.  We’ll see how things work out.  I’m past the drop date, and I probably wouldn’t even if I still could.  Generally, once I start something, I want to finish it.  So long as I keep my GPA up, it’s all gravy.  So what if my brain explodes a little bit?  Maybe some new creative juices will slip from the cracks.  Besides, I like a good challenge every now and then.

Right now my current predicament has left my bank account hacked twice.  I’ve narrowed it down and I think I know who the culprit is that’s stealing the numbers of my cards. Almost a month ago we went someplace – I’ll refrain from saying where – and my account was hacked two days later.  My husband and I went to the same place about two days ago, and low and behold, our account is hacked again.  It may be a coincidence, but I think not.  I’m going to go back through my bank records and double check tonight.  If it is what I think it is, I’m going to give the bank a heads up and see if they can look into it.

I’m still reading and reviewing for I Read A Book Once, so if you haven’t been over to that site, make sure you check it out.  Jonathan and his band of merry reviewers are awesome people, and they give wonderful insight on the books they review.  There’s something for everyone.  Why are you still reading my blog?  I Read A Book Once will hold your interest better than I can with my random and sporadic thoughts.

Delayed Post Due To Forgetfulness

So this was the post that was meant to go up two days ago.  Since then I've posted my article, gotten my grade back on my final (93%), written another blog post, and more.  Enjoy the now outdated blog post.

The end of the semester is coming up fast.  I’ve already completed my English II final, though the professor is making me wait with agony filled impatience to find out what I got on the paper.  I’m starting to wonder if college professors get some sort of twisted pleasure out of making a student wait for so long to find out their grade.  Maybe I’m just a little high strung.  It very well could be the case.  I’m so busy these days, it’s like sleep is a dream itself.  Tonight I may forego playing on the computer to unwind and just fall into bed.  It’s a very temping proposition.

The Academy (novel I’m working on) is coming along somewhat all right.  Some of the characters make me want to bash their head into a fictional brick wall.  Maybe it will crack their stubbornness so I can get them to do what I want.  Then again, when characters go off and do what they want, it generally means that they aren’t two dimensional, that they at least have some substance to them.  Hopefully, they’ll at least stick with me long enough so I can get this finished up.  Working full time + going to school full time + blogging + article writing + trying to write a novel = a busy freakin’ bee.

On another note, I just saw that Ernest Cline’s next book will be called Armada! It’s been picked up by Crown Publishing!  You’ll notice I already wrote one blog post on Ready Player One. It was a phenomenal book, and if Armada is anything like his first book, I’ll have it read in two days, and be pimping it out to the masses.  Looks like I just found my next article topic.
